Registration is open for ELT 2020
The purpose of ELT is to create a (now virtual) space for emerging APALA leaders and activists to be able to process and harness their leadership as AAPI labor leaders and find a political and organizing home at APALA with other AAPI labor leaders. By developing the leadership skills and deepening the political consciousness of emerging APALA leaders and activists, chapters will be more prepared to activate around a set of bold economic and racial justice principles centered on our vision for collective liberation.
WHO: Any APALA member is welcome. We recommend at least 1 from each chapter - the more the better!
REQUIREMENTS: All participants must have APALA membership this year.

- The pre-session will be on Saturday, August 15th at 2-5pm PT / 5-8pm ET! The alternate session will be the following Tuesday, August 18th at 3-6pm ET / 6-9pm ET.
- It is an important way for us to get to know each other and start building community. We’ll review the learning outcomes for each session, expectations and schedule, and spend some time getting to know the land we are on and the people we will be learning with.
- We also want to make sure everyone has everything they need to participate - so this pre-session will include an optional technology orientation to Zoom and Google Suite tools like Google Docs and Spreadsheets.
Register by August 15th to make it to the pre-session!
Fill out the form below or email Michelle at [email protected] if you want to arrange a time to fill out the application over the phone.
We ask that participants attend all 5 Saturday sessions in August, deepen relationships with other APALA chapter members through exploring our vision for collective liberation, work with their fellow chapter ELT participant(s) to implement the organizing skills and tools learned, and bring the lessons learned back to their chapters so that they can more effectively organize.
We ask that chapter leaders and members who are not participating in the ELT to fully support and engage with their members who are attending by creating space for those members to report what they learned and bring back activities for the chapter to work on together. This can look like setting up weekly video or phone calls during the month of August when ELT is in progress for participants to report out. Chapters integrate ELT lessons to more effectively organize their members for the current COVID-19 moment as well as the larger movement for racial and economic justice.
