We're welcoming Minh Tran as LA's Civic Engagement Fellow! Minh Tran is a transfer student at UCLA majoring in Sociology. Raised in a working-class household by parents who were refugees of the Vietnam War, Minh credits the strong union representation at her community college for getting her involved in labor. In addition to past involvement with the LA chapter of APALA, she has interned for AFT and NNU. Recently, at this year's Summer Institute on Union Women (SIUW), Minh served on the internal steering committee and was a panelist for the Institute's climate justice workshop. She currently serves as co-chair of the local Fossil Free chapter. Besides reading novels and swimming for her health, Minh drinks copious amounts of coffee in her spare time. |
