Student Scholarships Available
APALA is providing a limited number of
scholarships to students and young workers to
attend Generations United, Organizing for
Change.
To apply for the scholarship, you
can download
the form or fill out the application
on-line. The scholarship will
assist recipients with travel costs and hotel
accommodations. We are no longer accepting scholarship
applications.

1. When is the application deadline?
The application deadline has been extended
to June 8,
2009.
2. Who should apply for scholarships?
Student activists and young workers that are committed to fight for workers, immigrant and civil rights.
3. How will applicants be evaluated and selected?
A selection committee will evaluate all
applications. Applicants that have
experience in labor issues, student or
community organizing will be given a higher
priority for scholarships. Additionally,
students that have an interest in the labor
movement will also be given due
consideration.
4. When will applicants be informed of decisions?
Applicants will be informed by the end of the first week of June. Our hope is that this will provide applicants the necessary time to secure their transportation to the convention.
5. What does the scholarship cover?
The scholarship will cover transportation costs (up to $200 in airfare) and a shared hotel room for two or three nights at Bally's.
Once applicants are selected, APALA will coordinate to reimburse students for travel costs and book hotel rooms on behalf of applicants.
6. What costs are students responsible for?
Students are responsible for their registration fee ($30), ground transportation and some meals.
7. What does my registration fee cover?
Registration fee covers
materials, APALA membership, continental
breakfast on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and
admission to the Convention Gala on Friday
evening, dinner included.
