APALA chapters worked to defeat California's Proposition 226 on paycheck deception and Proposition 227 on English only public schools as well as Washington State's Initiative 200, which would have eliminated affirmative action in public programs.  California chapters distributed over 100,000 flyers in Asian languages opposing Proposition 226 and placed ads in Asian language newspapers.
