Rozita Lee



     Rozita Lee was born in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii and has lived in Las Vegas since 1979 when she moved from Hawaii to marry her long time friend, Dr. Clifford Lee.  Her father, Eugenio Villanueva,  immigrated in late 1929 from Pangasinan, Philippines to Hawaii as part of the recruited labor force for the Hawaii plantations.

    Rozita’s professional world has taken her from the Canadian Pacific Airlines industry in Hawaii, to PBS Television, to Vice-President of Nevada Economic Development Company, to Special Assistant to the Governor of Nevada, and to President and CEO of her own company.

    Just as she was active with community service in Hawaii, so is she in Las Vegas.  Rozita served as President of the prestigious Women’s Democratic Club of Clark County, and has served on numerous Boards of organizations.  She heads the respected Asian Pacific Forum which has participation from the Japanese, Chinese, Filipino, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Thai, and Hawaiian communities.  Members work together seeking solutions to challenges presented in the Asian Pacific American community.  She is the legislative appointee to the first Asian American Commission of Clark County. 

     Rozita was elected President of the Ilocano American Association of Nevada with a membership of more than 300 Filipinos.  She led her group in many issue related activities including “Get Out The Vote” project calling more than 20,000 registered voters prior to election day encouraging people to take action and vote.  She is the elected President of NaFFAA, Las Vegas Chapter and  most recently appointed Chair of entire Nevada Region XI of the National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA).            

     She has has demonstrated her organizational and leadership skills in coordinating successful national conferences for minority business entrepreneurs, coordinating rallies for issue-related and political events, and in conducting workshops and seminars.  She coordinated candlelight vigils in front of Las Vegas City Hall and was spokeswoman for the noted Waje Case calling for Police accountability.  She coordinated rallies and fund raisers for Gov. Bob Miller, Nevada Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa, and for U.S. Senator Harry Reid.  Rozita was selected by the NaFFAA Board to Chair the NaFFAA 4th Congress in Las Vegas. 

     She has motivated the Filipino youth to form the Philippine American Youth Organization and has been adviser to UNLV Filipino Student Association.  Her advocacy for the Asian Pacific American and Filipino population in particular has taken her to Washington, D.C., New York City, and Los Angeles. She has spoken about Asian Pacific American concerns and issues at various APA and Filipino meetings and conferences of NaFFAA, the Asian Pacific American Institute of Congressional Studies (APAICS) and of the Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance (APALA).
