Marian Thom
Marian Thom is a Chinese American and a native New Yorker. Ms. Thom worked as a teacher in the New York City public schools and became an active UFT member in 1970. In 1973, she was appointed as a UFT delegate and in 1991 she was elected to the UFT Executive Board until she retired in 2005. Ms Thom was also one of the founding members of the Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance, AFL-CIO in 1991 and served two terms each as Treasurer and Secretary of APALA. She retired recently as the President of the APALA New York Chapter and is now the chairman of the Asian American Heritage Committee.
