     Ahmed Shakir is currently the Secretary of Local 37 with the  American Federation of State, County, Municipal Employees which he joined in 1998.  He is also the President of Chapter 37 of the Department of Transportation.  In addition, he has served as the Chairperson of the American Engineering Alliance, Public Employee Legal Service (PELS) and Board of Director of Eastern Queens Democratic Party. Ahmed is an experienced, skillful and outspoken leader.
